No sweeping conclusions should be drawn from one exhibition game. But as Packers RB Cedric Benson would say, this was no ordinary exhibition game. In bursts, there were signs of a player who could liven up the Packers' ground game. The 5-foot-11, 227-pound back rushed for 38 yards on six carries, showing more in one half than any of the team's other running backs have this summer.
Benson also caught one pass for 10 yards. He looked good, hitting holes hard and breaking tackles. He looks way ahead of the competition, so if he gets the goal line touches (instead of John Kuhn) and James Starks/Alex Green take more of a traditional RB2 role then Benson could put up fantasy RB2 numbers. He'll definitely benefit from a lack of focus on the Packer running game. He didn't have that going for him in Cincinnati.
