The thing that really stands out about Bengals WR Andrew Hawkins is his speed, wide receivers coach James Urban said. Hawkins’ quickness was a big reason he transitioned from 2011 training camp to the practice squad and ultimately the active roster.
“He’s a dynamic, explosive, quick player who creates mismatch problems for people. It’s hard to replicate his speed,” Urban said. “Until you see it for a few plays, it’s a different speed than what (opponents) are used to seeing.”
The Bengals have a need at WR2, and Hawkins filled that role wonderfully in Week 1. He has a ton of quickness and can make people pay in the slot. He and Jermaine Gresham will vie for targets after A.J. Green gets his. He is worth a pickup in 12 team PPR leagues.
