Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles rushed 30 times for 140 yards and caught three passes for 21 yards. He got the ball a total of 39 times in the overtime win against the Saints.
“Whatever it takes to get a win,’’ he said. “Whatever they want, I’m going to go with it. I don’t want the coach to take it light on me. I want to be one of the best backs ever to play in the NFL.’’
Coach Romeo Crennel didn’t apologize for using Charles so frequently. In fact, he did the opposite.
“I wish he could get it more because he can run for a touchdown,’’ Crennel said.
These are words many of us have been waiting to hear for years. Charles and the Chiefs running games seems to be heating up, and owners who took a shot on Charles and his recovery are taking advantage. The Chiefs travel to Tampa and face a Bucs rushing D that's among the tops in the league, but the Chiefs are going to run the ball no matter what the matchup is, so Charles will likely be a top play and is someone to keep in your lineup.
