“He is quicker than fast,” Titans offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains said of WR Kendall Wright. “He’s really explosive in his lower body, so he’s catching a lot of slammer screens, the underneath stuff, and we’re giving him a chance to run after the catch. But sometimes when you throw a slammer screen on second-and-20, you’re not going to have a 17-yard average on that kind of stuff.”

“To his credit, he’s not 6-4 and he still played a lot on the perimeter for us against longer corners,” Ragone said. “I thought what he improved upon during the year was his ability to get off the jams. And for a smaller guy, that’s sometimes a difficulty.”

That means there could be more opportunities for Wright to get farther downfield next season.

“He’s just scratching the surface,” Ragone said. “You have to remember he was also a basketball player at Baylor and that he came to Baylor as a quarterback, so he’s only been playing wide receiver for a few years.

“To come in and play at the level we asked him to play at, at a pretty consistent level, has been impressive. I think he comes in here next year as a much more confident guy, knowing he can beat NFL defenders.”
