Pierre Garçon is still weighing a decision on whether to undergo surgery on his right foot, according to a person with knowledge of the Washington Redskins receiver’s health.
That person, who was not authorized to speak publicly about Garçon’s situation, said he is leaning toward simply resting the foot but should make an official decision in the coming weeks.
Garçon has never undergone surgery and is not keen on having a procedure on the foot, which he said would take three to four months to heal but would offer no guarantee of fixing the issue.
The tear in the plantar plate affected Garçon’s ability to push off at the line of scrimmage and impacted his ability dig his foot into the ground and cut.
This could turn into a situation where Garcon rests his foot and still eventually has surgery, which would push his recovery deep into the summer. He has a ton of upside, but this injury is a major concern heading into the 2013 fantasy season.
