There's two significant factors weighing against RB Brandon Bolden's chances of making the Patriots 53-man roster this season.
The first is increased competition created by April's acquisition of LeGarrette Blount from the Buccaneers. If Blount makes a case to stick, Bolden will be hard-pressed for a spot. The second is an undisclosed injury that landed him in a walking boot at one point this offseason. Bolden could be a candidate to begin training camp on the physically unable to perform list, hardly ideal for a player entering his second NFL season.
The good news for Bolden is reports say Blount has been unimpressive in OTAs and Bolden did look good at times last year for the Pats. He'll have to keep healthy, and ESPN gives him a 60-percent chance of keeping his roster spot. He would likely end up behind RBs Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen on the depth chart.
