Giants running back Andre Brown suffered a fractured left leg in Thursday's preseason finale against the New England Patriots.
Brown broke his fibula in the same leg last season.
As of right now, it is unclear whether or not the injury will keep Brown out for the entire season. He walked off the field under his own power. Nonetheless, the Giants short-yardage back and strongest blocker out of the backfield will be out for a significant period of time.
We'll know more soon, but for now we're assuming Brown misses approximately eight games, which means David Wilson gets a boost as the clear #1 RB for the Giants. Da'Rell Scott, rookie Michael Cox and Ryan Torain are vying for snaps behind Wilson. We'd confidently take Wilson in the mid-to-late 2nd round. He's not a proven workhorse back like Steven Jackson or Maurice Jones-Drew, but he has a ton of upside. For more on Wilson, be sure to read Senior Editor John Paulsen's A Closer Look.
