Due to the overhaul among Tom Brady’s pass catchers, the running game will shoulder a bit more pressure to perform this season. Particularly, the Patriots are going to need to run the ball when defenses are in a base formation, as opponents will likely force the offense to prove it can throw consistently with as many as three or four rookies seeing regular playing time.

That fits right into Stevan Ridley’s wheelhouse. He’s the between-the-tackles workhorse who will have the opportunity to prove he can gain tough yards in tense situations, which is something over which the more physical running backs salivate. It played a part in Ridley’s decision to bulk up a bit this offseason.

Fantasy Impact:

The Patriots will probably lean a bit more on the run this season as the team's receiving corps matures. Ridley should have a good season provided he doesn't fumble the ball.
