Quarterback Blaine Gabbert needed 15 stitches to close a laceration on his right hand sustained late in the Jaguars’ 28-2 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
Replays were inconclusive but Gabbert thinks he hit his hand on another player’s face mask with 1 minute, 20 seconds remaining. He immediately left the game and was escorted to the locker room for repairs.
Gabbert said the stitches were on the top of his hand. It was his first game since
breaking his right thumb Aug. 17 against the New York Jets, a game in which he played well and many hoped was a steppingstone to the regular season. But, Gabbert was terrible against the Chiefs. If he can't go, Chad Henne would get the start in Week 2 at Oakland.
