Report: Falcons fear Julio Jones out for season

Falcons fear Julio Jones likely out for the rest of the year with a foot injury. Initial diagnosis is that Julio Jones season is over. Falcons sending him for 2nd opinion but they are pessimistic.

Fantasy Impact:

The latest reports say Jones broke the screw that was put in his foot in his 2011 surgery, which obviously doesn't sound good. But, the good news for the Falcons is they have a Week 6 BYE to get Roddy White and Steven Jackson healthy. If Julio is indeed lost for the season, this would obviously be a huge blow to Matt Ryan and the entire offense. When Jones missed time in 2011, Harry Douglas saw an increase in snaps (from an average of 33 to 51), but the Falcons may elect to use Drew Davis and Kevin Cone and keep Douglas in the slot. Expect Ryan to lean even more heavily on veteran TE Tony Gonzalez and the run game, so this could be a good thing for Steven Jackson, if he can stay healthy. For now, Douglas looks like the best pickup in the Atlanta receiving corps.
