Browns beat writer Mary Kay Kabot was asked about the Browns drafting a QB:
I still see the Browns looking hard at a quarterback in the first round, because Brian Hoyer is coming off a torn ACL and Jason Campbell will be 32 in December. I still think the Browns need to determine if their quarterback of the future is in this draft class.
But the play of Hoyer and Campbell has taken the pressure of for having to draft one with their first pick in the round one. If they see a good developmental quarterback in round two or three, they could always go that route and let Hoyer and Campbell battle it out for the starting job in 2014.
The Browns really liked Hoyer coming into the season but pretty much had to go with Brandon Weeden as the starter. It's a shame what happened to Hoyer and having to miss the rest of the season, so there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the position. But at least Hoyer could be given another serious look with Weeden's status kind of up in the air at this point. The Browns will need to add a running back in the offseason to give them some balance.
