Hitting the right upright from 49 yards and missing wide left from 48 yards on Sunday at Washington was the death knell for kicker Mike Nugent.
Tampa Bay just announced that it signed kicker Shane Andrus, who had been in training camp with Indianapolis and kicked off for the Colts in their opener, and cut Nugent.
Nugent, who had previously played for the New York Jets after starring at Ohio State, came to Washington 0-for-2 having missed one field goal try and having the other blocked. He did make two shorter kicks on Sunday.
Nugent signed with Tampa Bay on March 4 and beat out popular incumbent Matt Bryant, who kicked a game-winner last season the week that his infant son died.
