Amid an ESPN report that veteran former NFL head coach and noted offensive mind Norv Turner is close to becoming the Vikings’ offensive coordinator, another report has surfaced that Mike Zimmer has landed his defensive coordinator as well.
According to Fox Sports’ Alex Marvez, Dolphins linebackers coach George Edwards will leave Miami to join Zimmer as defensive coordinator.
Turner would be a good hire for the entire Vikings offense, especially Kyle Rudolph, since Turner likes to feature his tight end prominently in the offense. Cordarrelle Patterson would be a prime breakout candidate given the way Josh Gordon played this season under Turner. The Vikings will need to address the QB position though Turner made the best of a bad situation in Cleveland.
