Mark Ingram preparing for bigger role in 2014

Whether Pierre Thomas remains with the team or not, Mark Ingram and second-year tailback Khiry Robinson appear to be the future at running back for the Saints after successful outings in two postseason games last season.

Ingram began to shine late in the 2013 season with a bruising performance in Week 16 against Carolina with 83 rushing yards on 13 carries. He carried that forward for 97 yards on 18 carries and a touchdown in the Saints' wild-card playoff win in Philadelphia.

The Saints have apparently recognized Ingram's progression late in the season, even though Ingram's second-quarter fumble overshadowed his average of 4.9 yards per carry in the NFC divisional loss in Seattle.

Fantasy Impact:

If Thomas remains, the Saints will still likely use a rotation at RB as they have in recent years. If Thomas is released, Ingram and Robinson would certainly see a bump in value.
