Starting Sunday, when the Philadelphia Eagles face the Buccaneers at Lincoln Financial Field, head coach Andy Reid plans to use a two-pronged running back attack, with the two-time Pro Bowl tailback Brian Westbrook sharing the workload with rookie Lesean Mccoy.
"LeSean did a great job when he was out there," Westbrook said. "He's a guy who can get it done. He played really well in the preseason and against Kansas City (a week ago Sunday). He can play this game."
The idea is to keep Westbrook healthy, which he hasn't been since 2007.
Now, with Westbrook coming off ankle and knee surgery and another ankle injury he suffered against the Saints, Reid is finally committing to a multiple-back system for the first time since the Three-Headed Monster days with Westbrook, Buckhalter and Staley back in 2003.
"He'll probably get most of the action," McCoy said. "I'll sneak in there and do some damage. That would be pretty cool for both of us to get in there and play together."
