Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts (hamstring) very iffy for Week 2, Marqise Lee returns to practice
Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts left last Thursday's practice with tightness in his left hamstring. The next day, he said it wasn't serious and that he expected to play in the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. On Saturday, however, the Jaguars announced Shorts was out and he did not make the trip with the team.
Both HC Gus Bradley and Shorts have said this injury has a different feel than the one he suffered on the first day of training camp. Shorts left practice that day with what he said was tightness in his right hamstring but ended up missing the next 23 days. There's no indication that he'll be out that long with this latest injury, but it's logical to speculate that he may end up missing a similar amount of time based on how little he has worked this week.
If Shorts is unable to practice Friday, he won't play against the Redskins, which would mean he'd miss his 13th game since the Jaguars drafted him in the fourth round in 2011.
We're likely to see Lee and Allen Hurns in the starting lineup against the Redskins.
