NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams is "week to week" after suffering a sprained ankle in Sunday's 38-10 loss to the Ravens.
After Williams left the stadium in a walking boot, his status for the team's Week 5 tilt against the Bears is in serious doubt, according to a source informed of the injury.
Darrin Reaves, who was signed from the practice squad, took over for Williams as did Tauren Poole. Obviously, the Panthers RB situation is pretty dire right now. With Mike Tolbert on IR and Jonathan Stewart also out in Week 4, the Panthers could be left scrambling to add another RB before Week 5. Coming off two straight ugly losses, the Panthers face a rugged schedule that -- after the Bears tilt -- features games against the Bengals, Packers, Seahawks, Saints, Eagles and Falcons.
