There’s a reason the Ravens traded for receiving depth, and there was a reason Steve L Smith was so angry the other night.
According to Chick Hernandez of CSN Mid Atlantic, the veteran wide receiver has four broken bones in his back.
The team is actually considering Smith day-to-day, so the exact nature of the injury is obviously not known and owners should hold tight until we do know more. Without Smith, and Breshad Perriman's status up in the air, the Ravens are in trouble at the position and perhaps on offense as a whole. The Raven traded for Rams Chris Givens to partly fill the need. Michael Campanaro was also placed on injured reserve today. That leaves Marlon Brown, Kamar Aiken and Darren Waller as the rest of the team's WRs. The Ravens may have to turn more to the run with Justin Forsett and even Lorenzo Taliaferro. Forsett may become more of a weapon in the passing game than he has been so far this season.
