Davante Adams out of walking boot

The walking boot that Davante Adams used to hobble around last week was gone, but the Green Bay Packers receiver was still trying to protect his sprained left ankle.

The only way to do that was not to play.

“I’m trying to be smart more than anything; I don’t want keep messing up,” Adams said Sunday night when asked about his prospects for playing in this week’s game against the St. Louis Rams. “It’s a long season.”

Adams said he never practiced last week, which was probably why the Packers downgraded him from questionable on Friday to doubtful on Saturday.

But at least he was able to walk out of the visitor’s locker room at Levi’s Stadium without the boot and without much of a noticeable limp.

Fantasy Impact:

As it turned out, Adams probably was never close to playing in Sunday’s 17-3 win over the San Francisco 49ers, and in the locker room afterward he said he’s in a “wait-and-see” mode, the story said. The team doesn't appear to be in a hurry to rush him back so his status for Week 5 could be up in the air until closer to game time. Green Bay hosts the Rams in an early afternoon game.
