Roethlisberger injured in overtime

The Pittsburgh Steelers went to overtime before losing a stunner to the Kansas City Chiefs, but they did so without QB Ben Roethlisberger.

Roethlisberger was on the sidelines for all but a few plays of the extra frame after he took a knee to the head from LB Derrick Johnson while being sacked. He was injured on the Steelers’ fourth play from scrimmage in overtime and was replaced by veteran backup Charlie Batch, who was unable to lead the Steelers to a score before they were forced to punt.

“He took a blow, needless to say it was a concussion-oriented thing,” coach Mike Tomlin said during his postgame news conference. “I doubted that he was going to come back in the football game. I don’t have, of course, a lot of information in terms of where he is or his level of availability. We’ll have more information as we proceed.”
