After missing two months with a fractured collarbone, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo's injury appears to have healed based on recent test results, a league source told ESPN's Ed Werder.
Romo should be cleared from injured reserve/designated to return Wednesday and play as expected Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, the source said.
The Cowboys were 2-0 when Romo was injured, but they have gone 0-7 in Romo's absence, the franchise's longest losing streak since 1989.
"Tony's had a good couple of weeks of practice with us," coach Jason Garrett said. "We anticipate him being able to practice this week."
This has been the target date all along, and it looks like Romo will play against the Dolphins. The Cowboys said Romo would take the field no matter what their record was, and even at 2-7 there's still a chance in a not-so-good NFC East. It may be unfair to expect Romo to step right in and be a QB1 option, but he should be a big boost to the offense and also help the value of Dez Bryant and Jason Witten. Romo has potential to put up very good fantasy numbers for a team that likely needs to win the rest of their games.
