One day after St. Louis Rams coach Jeff Fisher said he was "almost out of answers" when it comes to fixing his team's offensive woes, he relieved offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti of his duties.
The Rams announced that Cignetti was fired Monday afternoon and that tight ends coach Rob Boras, who also had the title of assistant head coach/offense, will take over for Cignetti.
"We thank Frank for his hard work and dedication over the past four years," Fisher said in a statement. "We wish him the best moving forward."
The coordinator change came less than 24 hours after the Rams' offense posted season lows in yards (212), first downs (nine) and points (three) in a 27-3 blowout loss to the Arizona Cardinals. The loss was the Rams' fifth in a row, dropping their record to 4-8 on the season. This season, the Rams rank 31st in the NFL in yards per game (296.3), 32nd in passing yards per game (178) and first downs (175) and tied for 30th in offensive touchdowns (18).
