Belichick: resting players something 'to give some thought to'

The Jets (9-5) need some help to make the playoffs for first time in five years, and it just might come from their biggest rivals, the Patriots, who also happen to be their opponents on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

The Pats (12-2) are banged up. So much so that head coach Bill Belichick wouldn't rule out the possibility of resting some players in their last two games to get healthy for the playoffs.

"We'll just have to do the best that we can to balance all those things out," Belichick told reporters on Monday, per Pro Football Talk.

"That's something we'll have to give some thought to, and get as much information as possible because there are some guys that are in various states of physical health. We'll have to work our way through all that. It's definitely a challenging situation. I wish I had a cleaner answer on it, but really we're just going to have to work it out."

Fantasy Impact:

As the story said, the Patriots already have a first-round playoff bye sewn up. But they still need either a win or a Bengals loss or tie to clinch home-field advantage throughout the postseason. So, this game still has value to the Pats who would love to have home field advantage. The Pats play in an early game while the Bengals are on Monday night so the team can control its own fate with a win, and obviously won't know the Bengals outcome before they kick off.
