Adrien Robinson is a 6’4 264 lbs athlete entering his third year out of Cincinnati. A 2012 4th round draft pick, Robinson has yet to make any kind of impact and has only seen action in three games over his first two seasons, primarily in a blocking role. Robinson will be vying for the TE job with fellow youngster Larry Donnell and veteran journeyman Daniel Fells, and the Giants are hoping this athletic target can take a step forward this year.
Fantasy Upside
Robinson is a big target who has enough speed to stretch the seam and could become a red zone target, despite only catching five touchdown passes during his college career. He also has little competition for the job in New York, as Donnell and Fells have yet to put a strong hold on the starting position.
Fantasy Downside
Unfortunately, there’s very little to actually get excited about with Robinson though. He’s yet to do anything his first two seasons, he wasn’t prolific in college, and he may ultimately be used as a blocker. With potential as far as opportunity and potential as far as physical gifts being the only thing he has going for him, he’s just as likely to end up with zero points all season as he is to earn a spot in the passing game.
Bottom Line
Until Robinson shows something, there’s really no reason to consider him a fantasy relevant player. The Giants would love for him to take a step forward and become a red zone threat, but until we actually see it, fantasy owners should avoid drafting him, particularly with the depth at the TE position in the mid-late rounds.
