49ers RB Frank Gore (concussion) 'on pace to play' in Week 16

Coach Jim Harbaugh said on Thursday that Gore is passing through the concussion protocol and is on pace to play Saturday night against the San Diego Chargers. Gore missed the entire second half of Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks with a concussion.

Fantasy Impact: 

Gore may see a bigger than usual workload with Carlos Hyde out. Alfonso Smith should serve as Gore's primary backup.

49ers RB Carlos Hyde (ankle, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 16. Hyde is dealing with both ankle and back injuries and won’t play. Frank Gore has a concussion, but it sounds as if he’s going to start on Saturday. Alfonso Smith will serve as his primary backup.

49ers RB Frank Gore (concussion, questionable) took limited practice reps again Friday and is questionable for Week 16. Gore is apparently on track to start against San Diego on Saturday, though he has yet to receive full clearance. Without Carlos Hyde vulturing carries, he could be in for a big workload. If he’s out, Alfonso Smith and Bruce Miller figure to form an ugly RBBC.
