Fantasy Upside
Allen Robinson came off of an ACL tear, joined a new team and dealt with minor injuries, but still finished with 754 yards and four touchdowns on 55 receptions. And although it didn’t count for fantasy, his 10-catch, 143-yard performance in the playoffs is worth mentioning. Allen will be another year removed from his major injury and had another offseason to learn the playbook and get familiar with his new team.
Fantasy Downside
Robinson topped 80 yards just three times in 13 games last season. He also scored in only three games, and finding the endzone has been a struggle for Robinson in all but one of his seasons so far in the league. The Bears added more weapons this offseason as well, giving Robinson competition in Taylor Gabriel (retained), Anthony Miller (retained), Cordarrelle Patterson (signed) and Riley Ridley (draft pick). There’s also Trey Burton, David Montgomery and Tarik Cohen to consider.
2019 Bottom Line
If you’re looking for Robinson to put up numbers similar to what he did in 2015, then you’re going to be let down. He’s no longer that clear No. 1 threat like he was during his breakout season. But if you want a guy who is going to give you 3-4 receptions and 50-60 yards per game consistently, then Robinson will be a good mid-round add. Expect his numbers to improve from last season, but don’t expect an All-Pro season from him.
