Scouting report

PHI WR Alshon Jeffery - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Minnesota
Alshon Jeffery had a decent game last week against the Jets, bringing in six catches for 52 yards. Those were season-highs for the three games he has played this season. However, this was the first game he didn't score a touchdown which means it wasn't his best fantasy day.

Jeffery has a good matchup for Week 6 against a Vikings team that ranks 21st in aFPA to wide receivers. The numbers we have seen from him are about what you can expect each week. In standard leagues, he should be on the bench against Minnesota. For PPR leagues, he can be in play as a low-end WR3.

PHI WR Alshon Jeffery - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs New York Jets
It was good to have Alshon Jeffery back in the lineup. The veteran led the Eagles in targets with nine and even though he only ended up with three receptions for 38 yards, he did score a touchdown. He definitely has an influence on the passing game as QB Carson Wentz will look his way when he needs a big play or catch.

Jeffery will face the Jets who rank 30th in aFPA to wide receivers. Jeffery should be around 10 targets and expect more receptions this week with the favorable matchup.

The veteran receiver ranks as a low-end WR2 in standard leagues and closer to a WR3 in PPR leagues.

PHI WR Alshon Jeffery - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Green Bay
Alshon Jeffery did not play Week 3 but is expected to be back this Thursday. The Eagles definitely need him, so QB Carson Wentz will be looking for him a lot this week. He is a great possession receiver which will help the Eagles offense that seemed lost last week at times.

It won't be a great matchup against the Packers who are fourth in aFPA to wide receivers. Without DeSean Jackson's vertical threat, this hurts the Eagles passing game. Jeffery will be involved but not enough to help your fantasy team.

Keep Jeffery on the bench for Week 4 against a very good Green Bay defense and even though we expect the targets, the results will be limited.

PHI WR Alshon Jeffery - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Atlanta
Alshon Jeffery had a modest day compared to teammate DeSean Jackson. He was only targeted six times, but the production was still good because he scored two touchdowns (one in the air and one on the ground). In the end, Jeffery will be the most targeted wide receiver and will be a solid fantasy contributor.

It's a good matchup for the Eagles as Atlanta is 20th in aFPA to wide receivers after one week. Jeffery has more value in PPR leagues, but he should be in your lineup for Week 2 as a high-end WR3 or flex.

PHI WR Alshon Jeffery - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs Washington
Alshon Jeffery has been consistent over the past four seasons getting at least 90 targets per season and at least 50 receptions over that period. The Eagles have a lot of offensive weapons so the wealth will probably be spread through the skill players.

In the two meetings with Washington last season, Jeffery had eight receptions for 90 yards and a touchdown which breaks down to about his career averages against the 'Skins. Washington was average against the pass in 2018 so there is no advantage in the matchup.

Jeffery will be in play most weeks, but he only ranks a WR3 or flex for Week 1. Play him and expect similar numbers as he has had in the past.

PHI WR Alshon Jeffery - 2019 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
In his second season with the Eagles, Alshon Jeffrey put up some decent numbers as Philly’s No. 1 wide receiver, very similar to the season before. He caught 65 passes for 843 yards and six touchdowns. Jeffrey will continue that role this year and might be helped out by the addition of Desean Jackson as a deep threat. Jeffrey is not a speedster, but is an excellent jump ball and red zone receiver.

Fantasy Downside
Although Jeffrey is an important part of the offense, the Eagles passing game revolves around the tight ends. And Jackson could help attract attention away from Jeffrey, but he also could take away targets and receptions.

2019 Bottom Line
You can expect similar numbers for Jeffrey in 2019 as he put up the last two seasons for the Eagles - 65 catches and over 800 receiving yards. His ADP is 68 and that is about where he should be drafted. Feel comfortable taking him around the sixth round as a WR3.

PHI WR Alshon Jeffery - Week 19 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 19 at New Orleans Saints

Just how charmed the Nick Foles-led Eagles are will be tested this week, as the Super Bowl MVP and winner of four consecutive games travels to New Orleans where Philadelphia lost by 41 in Week 11. The Birds have the third lowest implied team total this week at 21.75 points. The Saints rank 11th in aFPA to WRs. Alshon was shut down in Week 11. However, a jump in targets with Nick Foles at QB raises his floor this week. We can't project him as an elite option in the divisional round, however.
