SF WR Anquan Boldin - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Anquan Boldin Week 3 vs. Cardinals
After a big game in the opener, Anquan Boldin had just two catches last week for 34 yards. It's the kind of output you can expect from a low-volume passing team. But with Vernon Davis hurting, Boldin could see a little more action. We expect him to perform as a low-end No. 3 or high-end flex option this week.

SF WR Anquan Boldin - Week 2, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Anquan Boldin Week 2 vs Bears
Anquan Boldin led the 49ers with eight receptions for 99 yards last week at the expense of Michael Crabtree. Look for that to change a bit this week as Crabtree gets a few more looks. The 49ers also might be more inclined to go run-heavy against a soft Chicago run defense. Look for Boldin to perform more like a good flex or low-end No. 3 receiver this week.

SF WR Anquan Boldin - Week 1, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Anquan Boldin Week 1 vs Cowboys
Keep an eye on Michael Crabtree's status this week. If he can't play, bump Boldin up to at least a No. 2 fantasy receiver this week. As it is, he's still looking at a decent No. 3 starter against a cheesy soft Dallas defense.

SF WR Anquan Boldin - 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Anquan Boldin caught 85 passes in his first season in San Francisco and went over 1,000 yards for the first time since 2009. If he can continue to build on his rapport with Colin Kapernick, he could be ready for another big season.

Fantasy Downside
Twenty-two of his receptions and more than 350 of his yards came in two games, the first and last of the season. In between were five games of three or fewer catches and no 100-yard games. With Michael Crabtree around for a full season and the addition of Stevie Johnson, there’s more competition for the receptions.

Bottom Line
Boldin is more likely to mirror his production of his three seasons in Baltimore than he is his first season in San Francisco. That means he’ll likely put up 60 or so receptions for 800-900 yards and a handful of touchdowns. The 49ers just don’t throw the ball enough for Boldin to be more than that, especially at 33. He’ll have some big games, but his ADP of 120 overall is in line with his fantasy value.
