NYG WR Bennie Fowler - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Chicago Bears

Bennie Fowler had two catches for 16 yards against the Jets before the bye last week. He’s not likely to improve on those numbers this week, regardless of the status of Sterling Shepard, who may return against the Bears. Chicago is tied for fifth in aFPA to opposing wide receivers this year and Fowler isn’t likely to get enough looks to be viable even if he had a good matchup.

NYG WR Bennie Fowler - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Washington Redskins

Bennie Fowler saw his snaps decrease from 79% in Week 2 to 60% last week against the Buccaneers, while rookie Darius Slayton saw 45% of the Giants’ offensive snaps. He wound up with only one catch on two targets for five yards. Fowler seems like he’s at least third in the pecking order behind Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram, and maybe behind Slayton as well. Plus, Golden Tate will return after next week. There’s no reason to suspect Fowler will put up anything remotely close to consistent fantasy production, and he should be left on waivers in all league formats.

NYG WR Bennie Fowler - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Bennie Fowler benefitted from the absence of Sterling Shepard last week, catching five balls for 51 yards. He was targeted a team-high 10 times, but don’t expect that kind of attention to continue with Shepard back in the lineup – not to mention Golden Tate returning in two weeks. While it’s possible rookie quarterback and new starter Daniel Jones will have a nice rapport with Fowler, you never really know until you see it. He should probably stay on waivers until he shows something in consecutive weeks with Jones at the helm.

NYG WR Bennie Fowler - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Buffalo Bills

Bennie Fowler caught all five balls thrown his way last week against Dallas for 40 yards. He looks like he’s carved a role in the offense, at least while Golden Tate is suspended, and he could get a little boost in targets if Sterling Shepard misses Week 2 against the Bills. Still, the Giants passing offense looks like it runs through Evan Engram and Saquon Barkley, who accounted for a combined 44% of the targets last week, making it hard to trust any of the New York receivers. Fowler should stay on waivers.

Update: With Sterling Shepard out, Fowler could see an increase in targets, but he's still unlikely to produce.

NYG WR Bennie Fowler - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Dallas Cowboys

Bennie Fowler played 10 games for the Giants last season in a bench role and ended up with 199 yards and a touchdown. There’s some opportunity for him to produce on a team that desperately needs wide receiver production, but with shaky quarterback play, it’s hard to get too excited about Fowler in most leagues. Even if he produces in the short term, he’s unlikely to beat out Golden Tate when he returns from a four-game suspension, and he’s at least fourth in the pecking order regarding targets – behind Saquon Barkley, Evan Engram and Sterling Shepard. Leave Fowler on waivers.

DEN WR Bennie Fowler - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

With Emmanuel Sanders out, Bennie Fowler should receive the start in the season finale. On the season, he has 25 grabs and 3 TDs, with two of those scores coming in Week 1. Even against a Chiefs defense that will likely be resting a lot of players, there is no reason to start Fowler with Paxton Lynch at QB.

DEN WR Bennie Fowler - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Philadelphia Eagles

Once again starting in place of Emmanuel Sanders last Monday in Kansas City, Bennie Fowler dropped what would have been a sure touchdown. He finished with 2 catches for 35 yards, but was targeted 6 times and had another drop, in addition to the potential TD. Sanders is expected back versus the Eagles, so Fowler has very little fantasy value.
