Scouting report

DEN K Brandon McManus - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 – Brandon McManus vs. Miami Dolphins
After the Broncos passed on a long FG attempt during their opening drive last week in St. Louis, Brandon McManus was needed for just an extra point. It was the second time this season he did not attempt a FG in a game and he is still just 8-for-11 in ’14. Look for Denver’s offense to have a better game at home on Sunday, even against a good Dolphins defense.

DEN K Brandon McManus - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 – Brandon McManus vs. St. Louis Rams
For only the second time this season, Brandon McMcManus was called on to kick more than one FG in a game last week in Oakland. In the win, Brandon was good on both of his short attempts and totaled 11 points – matching his season high from Week 5. With Denver averaging more than 30 points a game, look for McManus to get his share of scoring chances each week.

DEN K Brandon McManus - Week 10, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 – Brandon McManus vs. Oakland Raiders
In the loss to the Patriots last Sunday, Brandon McManus missed his only FG attempt, hitting the upright from 41 yards out. Through the first eight games he has kicked 31 extra points, but has just nine FG attempts, missing three of them. While the Broncos offense continues to move the ball and score points, McManus isn’t getting enough FG opportunities to be a great fantasy kicker, as he’s on pace for 98 points this season.

DEN K Brandon McManus - Week 9, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 – Brandon McManus vs. New England Patriots
The Denver offense keeps moving the ball on opponents and, unfortunately for Brandon McManus owners, keeps putting the ball in the end zone. Brandon kicked five extra points and received a 53-yard FG try in the fourth quarter last Thursday versus the Chargers, but he hooked it left. McManus is 6-of-8 on FG attempts this season, with both of his misses coming from beyond 50 yards. While distance isn’t an issue, hooking the ball left has been a pattern for him in practice. You know the Broncos are going to continue to rack up yards and score points, so McManus is still a good option.

DEN K Brandon McManus - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 – Brandon McManus vs. San Diego Chargers
As Peyton Manning was setting the NFL passing record against San Francisco last Sunday night, Brandon McManus was needed for just six extra points. The Broncos are putting up points, but in six games Brandon has only attempted seven FGs (making six). Look for Denver’s offense to keep it going at home on Thursday night.

DEN K Brandon McManus - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 – Brandon McManus vs. San Francisco 49ers
In the win at the Jets last Sunday, Brandon McManus was needed for just a 37-yard FG and four extra points. He is 6-7 on FG attempts and is averaging seven points per contest. The Broncos offense hasn’t been nearly as explosive as it was last season, but McManus still makes for a good play, especially when he gets to kick at altitude.

DEN K Brandon McManus - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 – Brandon McManus vs. New York Jets
In the win over the Cardinals last Sunday, Brandon McManus was 2-3 on FGs – missing for the first time on the season, from 53 yards, and he also bounced one in off the upright from 41 yards. All three of his attempts were from beyond 30 yards – the first time this year he’s had to kick from that distance. With the release of Matt Prater, McManus should have some confidence moving forward knowing that the job is his for the rest of the season. The Jets defense has had some struggles of late, so if you’ve picked up the Denver K, look for him to have more solid opportunities for points this week.
