DAL WR CeeDee Lamb - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Los Angeles Rams

CeeDee Lamb leads the Cowboys in having seen 42 targets this season, averaging seven per game. 39 players are seeing more looks per contest across the entire league. He's 20th in receptions with 34 (5.7 per game) and is the WR20 in Half-PPR points per game.

On paper, it'll be tough for the Lamb breakout game to come in Week 8 against the Rams. The Rams rank fourth in aFPA to wide receivers this season. Lamb's efficiency (he ranks 16th in Fantasy Points Over Expectation per game in 2023) keeps him in the WR1 discussion, but it's hard to get too excited about this matchup.

DAL WR CeeDee Lamb - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Los Angeles Chargers

CeeDee Lamb did not have the best of games in Week 5 against the stifling 49ers defense. He caught exactly four passes for the fourth game out of five this season, but could only muster 49 receiving yards. This was his second straight game below 50 yards. Lamb managed just 6.9 Half-PPR points and is averaging 11.5 points per game in 2023. He's tied for WR23 in that format.

Lamb will look to bounce back in Week 6 and couldn't really ask for a better matchup in which to do so. The Chargers rank 28th in aFPA to wideouts in 2023, so Lamb can be viewed as a backend WR1 option this week.

DAL WR CeeDee Lamb - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at San Francisco 49ers

It's been a quiet start to the season for CeeDee Lamb, a fact that reinforced itself again in Week 4. Lamb was targeted on just six of Dak Prescott's 34 pass attempts, which he turned into four grabs for 36 yards. He was able to score his first touchdown of the season, but after four weeks, Lamb is commanding only 22% of the Cowboys targets. Lamb finished Week 4 as the WR20 in Half-PPR points and is WR18 in fantasy points per game.

Lamb faces what could be an eruption spot in Week 5 against a 49ers team that hasn't been great against wide receivers, at least when adjusted for schedule. The 49ers rank 23rd in aFPA to wideouts, and it is for mainly this reason that he should still be viewed as a low-end WR1.

DAL WR CeeDee Lamb - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. New England Patriots

CeeDee Lamb didn't have the best of games against the Cardinals in Week 3. He saw seven targets, which is nice though far from elite, but could only muster four grabs for 53 yards. Lamb was trusted with two carries that brought him another nine yards, but his endeavors were enough for only 8.2 Half PPR points. He was behind 43 other wideouts in fantasy points last week. Through three weeks of the season, Lamb sits at WR22 in points per game.

It's a tough matchup for anyone looking for a Lamb bounce back in Week 4, as the Cowboys take on a less than generous Patriots defense. The Patriots are fourth in aFPA to wide receivers so far this year. Still, Lamb should be viewed as a mid-level WR1 this week, despite the matchup.

DAL WR CeeDee Lamb - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Arizona Cardinals

CeeDee Lamb was a picture of efficiency against the New York Jets in Week 2. He casually hauled in 11 of his 13 targets for 143 yards on his way to 19.8 Half PPR points, good for WR10 numbers in Half PPR scoring. After two weeks, Lamb is the WR11, so there is no real need to panic.

Lamb has a potential explosion game on the Week 3 slate against the Cardinals, who project to be among the friendliest matchups for wide receivers across the entire league. This could be Lamb's true coming-out party for the 2023 season.

DAL WR CeeDee Lamb - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs New York Jets

Fantasy managers who took CeeDee Lamb early in drafts would have been hoping the New York Giants would put up a fight in Week 1, leading to a shootout with plenty of opportunities for Lamb to rack up the fantasy points. They would end up being disappointed, as the lopsided Cowboys win saw Lamb held to just four targets. In his defense, he did catch all four for 77 yards. But he could only muster 9.7 Half-PPR points, "good" for WR32 on the week.

The Cowboys wide receivers face the toughest matchup on the Week 2 slate as they take on the New York Jets, which puts something of a cap on expectations for fantasy managers. But Lamb is the undisputed target leader, and his ability to command the lion's share of the targets in the passing game should be enough to ensure he churns out a fantasy-relevant week. He's a low-end WR1 this week.

DAL WR CeeDee Lamb - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at New York Giants

CeeDee Lamb established himself as the true alpha of the Cowboys passing attack in 2022, as he set career highs across the board. Lamb caught 107 of his 156 targets for 1,359 yards and nine touchdowns, collecting 14.6 Half-PPR points per game on his way to finishing as the WR6.

Anyone who rostered Lamb should have absolutely no worries about starting him this week against the New York Giants. The Giants finished 16th in aFPA to wide receivers a year ago, and Lamb should continue to command a high target share even with Brandin Cooks now in the wide receiver room. Lamb should comfortably post WR1 numbers in Week 1.
