2022 Fantasy Upside
Barring a major injury, it’s difficult to see CeeDee Lamb not enjoying a prolific fantasy season. Now established as the team’s clear WR1, Lamb will see a huge increase from last season’s 20.4 percent target share, which only ranked 36th among all wide receivers. In his first two seasons competing with Amari Cooper, Lamb still managed to total 153 receptions, 2,037 receiving yards, and 11 total touchdowns. Dallas is one of the NFL’s best offenses when quarterback Dak Prescott is healthy, and played at the league’s fastest neutral game script pace in 2021. All signs point to a big leap for the third-year Oklahoma-product in 2022.
2022 Fantasy Downside
Could Lamb’s limited target share during his first two seasons be an indicator or a larger issue? Will Lamb face similar struggles to Cooper when trying to beat the opposition’s best cornerback? Prescott has a preference to target open receivers and will not force the ball to a player in tight coverage. The onus will be on Lamb to get open, which is a legitimate concern for a wide receiver that only ranked 42nd in target separation last year (PlayerProfiler).
2022 Bottom Line
While there is a certain level of risk with every early fantasy selection, everything lines up for Lamb to have a huge fantasy season. He is the top receiving option, in a high-scoring offense, with coaching continuity, and a much harder projected schedule. It’s time for CeeDee Lamb to ascend to an overall WR1 in fantasy football.
