KC QB Chad Henne - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Chad Henne will draw the start for the Chiefs in Week 17, a sign that your fantasy football league should not hold its championship game this week. Considering the Chiefs are opting to play it safe in Week 17, it's probably best to look elsewhere for your quarterback. The Chargers are a good matchup (No. 22 aFPA), but we'd expect Kansas City to go with a run-heavy approach so they can simply prepare for the playoffs. Henne isn't the absolute worst option this week, but there are plenty of better QBs available.

JAX QB Chad Henne - 2017 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Chad Henne is being given a shot by the coaching staff to win the starting job from the ineffective Blake Bortles.

Fantasy Downside

He's Chad Henne.

2017 Bottom Line

Henne hasn't thrown a pass in a regular season game since 2014. There's a reason for that. He's decidedly average—at best. At his worst, or even below his best, he would be one of the worst starting quarterbacks in the NFL. Honestly, even if he wins the job, he's not worth a roster spot. He's not going to suddenly become a quality quarterback at 32.

JAX QB Chad Henne - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Chad Henne Week 3 vs. Colts
Chad Henne was sacked 10 times last week in Washington and is taking a beating. He did manage 193 yards and a touchdown, but you have to wonder how long he can stay upright? Indianapolis is 21st in the league in terms of fantasy points allowed to opposing QBs, but that was against Denver and Philadelphia. Henne is not a strong start this week.

JAX QB Chad Henne - Week 2, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Chad Henne Week 2 vs Redskins
Henne threw two first quarter TD passes last week and then the Jags offense went dormant. Henne could get Cecil Shorts back this week but rookie Marquise Lee is likely out now. With so many other options out there right now, there's no reason to start Henne.

JAX QB Chad Henne - Week 1, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Chad Henne Week 1 vs. Eagles
Chad Henne could actually be a sneaky start this week if you're really hard up for a starter - and in Week 1 why would you be? - in a game in which he's likely going to have to throw it a lot to keep up with the Eagles. Philadelphia allowed the 26th most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks last season, including a league-worst 289.8 yards passing per game.

JAX QB Chad Henne - 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Chad Henne finished the season strong, throwing at least two touchdown passes in Weeks 13 through 17. He's been named the starter over rookie Blake Bortles to open the season.

Fantasy Downside
The Jaguars drafted Bortles third overall for a reason. At some point this season, he's likely going to start.

Bottom Line
Unless Henne really catches fire - and he's had his moments - at some point he'll give way to Bortles. It probably won't be for at least a few weeks since the Jaguars don't want to throw the kid to the dogs, but it makes Henne a risky proposition for fantasy owners.
