Fantasy Upside
Charles Sims has been viewed as the receiving threat in Tampa Bay. In his three seasons, it’s been what he’s done best, most notably in 2015, when he finished with 51 receptions and over 1,000 total yards from scrimmage. He could end up having a strong role for the Bucs in 2017.
Fantasy Downside
Sims’ role is very hard to define before watching how the Bucs play. Doug Martin and Jacquizz Rodgers are seen as guys who can carry the load, which doesn’t leave much for Sims. This is a crowded backfield, and we have to watch a few games first to see how it plays out when all three are active.
2017 Bottom Line
Sims is a good running back with a lot of skills, but he’s not viewed as starter material, at least not now. He could have a bigger role with the team in the first three games with Martin suspended, but even then it’s not easy to know what he’ll do. He carries some value in PPR formats as a potential catch-heavy back, but he’s really only worth consideration in deeper leagues.
