Scouting report

BAL WR Chris Givens - Week 14, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Seattle

Chris Givens had eight targets last week, but he caught only three of them. He wound up with 68 yards in the loss to the Dolphins, and he does appear to be the Ravens primary deep threat right now.

This week, Givens faces a tough Seattle defense that has given up the fourth least passing yards to opposing offenses this year. While Givens always has the potential to catch a bomb for a touchdown, it’s not likely enough to bank on, and fantasy owners should probably avoid him this week.

BAL WR Chris Givens - Week 13, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Miami

Chris Givens was targeted three times on Monday night against the Browns, catching only one pass. The pass he caught was a 48 yard bomb downfield, as Givens has been used by the Ravens as a deep threat since his acquisition earlier in the season, albeit to mixed results.

This week, Givens will face a vulnerable Miami defense, but his inconsistency makes him difficult to trust in most leagues. While he will likely get a couple of downfield looks during the game, and has a shot to break one for a long score, the likelihood is that he ends up with limited catches and limited fantasy points again, making him too risky to warrant rostering in most leagues.

BAL WR Chris Givens - Week 12, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Cleveland
Chris Givens was targeted seven times against the Rams last week, but he only caught two of the passes thrown his way for 25 yards. Givens is a deep threat, but wasn’t able to connect in Joe Flacco’s last game of the season. With Flacco suffering an ACL tear, ending his season, Givens will need to develop a quick rapport with veteran quarterback Matt Schaub. Givens was risky anyway, but with a quarterback change, fantasy owners should leave him on the bench until we see what the Raven offense is going to look like with Schaub. Givens is worth a roster spot though if you can afford it.

BAL WR Chris Givens - Week 11, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. St. Louis

Chris Givens entered the starting lineup last week after an injury ended Steve Smith Sr.’s season in Week 9. Givens was targeted seven times against the Jaguars, ending the day with four receptions, 37 yards and a touchdown. The Ravens are taking shots deep with Givens and are hoping he can help in the vertical passing game.

This week, Givens has a tough matchup against one of the league’s best pass defenses, but the Rams gave up big plays to the Bears last week and play an aggressive style that can leave them vulnerable at times to the deep ball. Fantasy owners should only consider Givens as an extremely risky boom/bust prospect, but as a desperation play, Givens has some upside.

BAL WR Chris Givens - Week 10, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Jacksonville
Chris Givens will finally get a chance to show what he can do now Steve Smith Sr. is out for the rest of the season with an Achilles injury. Givens has already been targeted on some deep passes since being acquired from the Rams in a trade. He’s too risky to start in most fantasy leagues just yet, but if you have an extra roster spot, he’s not a bad addition to your fantasy team in case he can strike gold with an expanded role.

BAL WR Chris Givens - Week 5, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Cleveland
Chris Givens was acquired in a trade this week to bolster a receiving corps that has suffered injuries to first round rookie Breshad Perriman and now veteran Steve Smith Sr. Givens will likely need a little time to acclimate to his new surroundings, but early reports indicate he’ll be active on Sunday and he might be worth a roster stash. He’s arguably more talented than the other healthy receivers on the Baltimore offense and will have a chance to win a job.

STL WR Chris Givens - Week 16, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16: Givens vs. Giants
Chris Givens was targeted once but failed to catch a pass in the Rams’ Week 15 loss to the Cardinals. He has zero fantasy value as a situational deep threat.
