Fantasy Upside
You have to go back to 2018 to see the potential Chris Herndon has in 2020. He had 39 catches for 502 yards and four touchdowns. Not bad for a rookie tight end with a rookie quarterback throwing to him. The most impressive part of Herndon's game was his ability to get downfield which is usually a wide receiver's role.
Fantasy Downside
Herndon played only 18 snaps in 2019 due to suspensions and injuries. He also is a Jet which should worry any fantasy owner about any of New York's players. It has struggled and that affects the skill players, even the ones with a positive track record.
2020 Bottom Line
Herndon was a potential break out candidate last season so that could carry over to 2020. He should get targets on a team that still has a weak receiving corp. His role in fantasy is a low-end TE2 so you he can probably be had in the late rounds for depth. Expect similar stats from his rookie year with a potentially higher ceiling than most backup tight ends.
