NO WR Chris Olave - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs Carolina Panthers

Chris Olave is our WR14 this week. Olave has posted two 1,000+ yard seasons to kick off his career. He earned 138 targets in 16 games last year. Olave posted seven games of 90+ yards and found the end zone five times.

He'll look to pick up where he left off a season ago and should be in all lineups.

NO WR Chris Olave - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

We have Chris Olave as the WR14 in our projections with 87 receptions, 1,140 yards, and five trips to the end zone. That's his career-high so far on all accounts but a third-year leap that includes eight or so touchdowns seems possible here. An extra three touchdowns would vault him up to WR7, leapfrogging Garrett Wilson.

Fantasy Downside

The downside here would be that he doesn't get the touchdowns we're hoping for and Alvin Kamara returns to Kamara-like levels of fantasy scoring. If that happens we could see something closer to the 72 reception, 1,042-yard season that Olave had in his rookie year. That would drop him down into WR24 territory which would be a tough return on his ADP.

2024 Bottom Line

As always, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Olave's current projection seems fair and he's being drafted at the right price. It's hard to envision a top 3 season from him and there are guys in his range that have that upside.

NO WR Chris Olave - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

After missing Week 15 with an injury, Chris Olave exploded in Week 16 for 123 yards on nine catches (13 targets). He also added a two-point conversion. Olave would love a much better performance against the Buccaneers than he had in Week 4 when he caught just one pass for four yards. With the targets he's been getting, he should do much better. Get him in your lineups.

NO WR Chris Olave - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Los Angeles Rams

It turns out Chris Olave will play Thursday against the Rams after missing Sunday against the Giants with an ankle injury. He returned to practice Tuesday and was a full participant Wednesday. He’s “good to go” as head coach Dennis Allen put it. The Saints really need him as they try to make a playoff push, playing what essentially amounts to a playoff game Thursday night. Olave moves back into WR2 territory and a good option for the playoffs this week.

NO WR Chris Olave - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Carolina Panthers

Chris Olave has now seen at least eight targets in seven straight games and he has back-to-back games with 100 yards. The injuries for the rest of the wide receiver group have almost forced the Saints to feed Olave as much as possible. That's fine because Olave is very talented and welcomes all the attention. He may have Jameis Winston throwing him the football this week but the strong volume makes him a good play nonetheless, even against a good Carolina defense. Of course, that defense still allowed 86 yards to Olave in Week 2.

NO WR Chris Olave - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Atlanta Falcons

Chris Olave went into the bye week on a bit of a hot streak. He has four double-digit fantasy games in the last five weeks. He has 31 catches over that span with two games almost reaching 100 yards and a touchdown in each of his last two games. The Falcons provide a favorable matchup for Olave and the Saints wide receivers. Olave's volume provides him plenty of chances to produce, making him a borderline WR1 this week.

NO WR Chris Olave - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Minnesota Vikings

The yardage may still not be there -- 46 yards in Week 9 -- but Chris Olave continues to get plenty of targets. He has 42 in the last four games. He did score a touchdown last week as well. Minnesota presents a pretty tough matchup (No. 10 defense in DVOA) but Olave's target share keeps him in the WR2/Flex range. He's bound to break through on yards one of these weeks with his target volume.
