CAR RB Christian McCaffrey - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Minnesota Vikings

Christian McCaffrey only had 49 yards last week against the Saints, but he caught 5 passes and scored his fourth touchdown in as many games. With how often he gets used in the passing game, McCaffrey is a high-floor option in PPR formats. He’s currently 12th in the league with 64 receptions.

This week, McCaffrey faces a tough Vikings defense allowing the fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs in all of football. McCaffrey still has a high floor because of his activity in the passing game, but he should be considered a fringe RB2 option due to the difficult matchup.

CAR RB Christian McCaffrey - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at New Orleans Saints

Christian McCaffrey didn’t score a touchdown last week, but he did have 9 touches, including two receptions, for a total of 97 yards. McCaffrey has proven to have a fairly high floor as a rookie this season, largely because of his role in the passing game. He has also been on the field for 64% of the team’s offensive snaps over the past two games, and the team seems focused on expanding his role.

The Saints have been largely effective against the running back position this season, but have allowed 64 receptions to the position. McCaffrey had 9 catches for 101 yards against the Saints in Week 3, and he should be active again in the passing game this week. He should be considered a viable RB2 option in all leagues, particularly in PPR formats.

CAR RB Christian McCaffrey - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at New York Jets

Christian McCaffrey was kept out of the end zone throughout the first four weeks of the season, but after a pair of touchdowns against Miami before the bye last week, he has now scored at least once in four of his past six games. McCaffrey is also averaging 5.7 catches per game, and is ninth in the entire league in receptions.

This week, McCaffrey should continue to be an active part of the offense, and he should put up solid RB2 numbers again, particularly in PPR league formats. The Jets have been very average on defense, allowing 22.2 points per game to opposing teams, but have been above-average against running backs. Still, they’ve allowed 3 receiving touchdowns and 47 catches to the running back position this year, which should bode well for McCaffrey’s skill set. Start him.

CAR RB Christian McCaffrey - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Miami Dolphins

Christian McCaffrey scored his third touchdown of the season last week against the Falcons, and his first rushing touchdown of his career. He carried the ball 15 times and caught 5 passes for a total of 94 yards on the day. It was good to see him get more carries than the ineffective Jonathan Stewart, and he remains a PPR demon. His 54 receptions on the season are third-most in the league (behind only Antonio Brown and Jarvis Landry).

This week, McCaffrey faces an inconsistent Dolphins defense that has actually been pretty effective against opposing running backs. They rank ninth in the league in fantasy points allowed to the running back position, even though they gave up a pair of touchdowns to Marshawn Lynch last week. McCaffrey should continue to be active in the passing game, and if he gets another 15 carries in the run game, he should be a borderline-RB1 in most leagues. He should be active on all rosters, especially in PPR formats.

CAR RB Christian McCaffrey - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Atlanta Falcons

Christian McCaffrey once again led the Panthers in catches last week, hauling in 5 passes for 49 yards against the Bucs. McCaffrey is actually third in the NFL with 49 receptions this year, and he should continue to be featured heavily in the passing game. In addition to his receptions, he’s adding 6.13 carries per game.

This week, McCaffrey will face a Falcons defense that has been very average across the board. They're tied for 15th in the league in points allowed per game. McCaffrey should be considered a steady RB2 option in most leagues, with higher upside in PPR formats, and seems due for a big play.

CAR RB Christian McCaffrey - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Christian McCaffrey hasn’t put together a lot of yards over his past few games, but he continues to be active in the passing game, giving him RB2 value in PPR formats. While he only had 46 yards from scrimmage last week against the Bears, he did it on 7 carries and 7 receptions, and he led the team with 9 targets.

This week, McCaffrey has a lot of upside against a vulnerable Bucs defense ranked 24th in the league in scoring defense. Expect the Panthers to continue to feature McCaffrey on check-downs and designed screens, and for him to have another solid week, particularly in PPR formats.

CAR RB Christian McCaffrey - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Chicago Bears

Christian McCaffrey didn’t do much on the ground against the Eagles last week, gaining only 8 yards on 4 carries, but he was a demon in the passing game. He led the team with 10 catches and caught his second touchdown pass in as many games. McCaffrey should continue to be heavily targeted throughout the season, giving him PPR value as an RB2 week-to-week.

This week, McCaffrey faces a Bears team that has given up 5 rushing touchdowns so far this year, and that ranks 25th in the league in points allowed per game. McCaffrey should continue to be heavily used in the passing game, making him a viable RB2 option in most leagues, but especially in PPR formats.
