KC RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at New York Jets

Clyde Edwards-Helaire matched Isiah Pacheco in carries in Week 3 as he ran 15 times for 55 yards and a touchdown, while also catching one pass for two yards. On the surface that seems notable, until you remember the Chiefs were blowing out the Bears and CEH was pretty much just used to kill time. In fact, 11 of his 15 carries were on the Chiefs' final three drives of the game. In Week 2, CEH had just three offensive touches, which is closer to what we expect in Week 4. CEH is off the fantasy radar this week.

KC RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Los Angeles Chargers

Clyde Edwards-Helaire only played four offensive snaps (6%) last week for the Chiefs, and finished with no touches. He had no carries, but he was at least targeted twice. CEH's role has been slowly decreasing the past couple of weeks, but now it appears he's on the outs. Unless you play in deeper leagues, CEH is probably a safe drop at this point.

KC RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Chiefs' backfield has turned into a mess. Not only are the three running backs splitting touches, but there aren't many touches to go around when Patrick Mahomes throws the ball 68 times in a game like he did last week. As a result, Clyde Edwards-Helaire finished with four carries for five yards while catching one pass for 14 yards on two targets. He also played a season-low 17% of the offensive snaps, the first time this season he's played below 20% in a game. As the Chiefs continue to get rookie Isiah Pacheco involved, CEH's usage just keeps getting lower. CEH gets a better matchup this week against the Jaguars, but he's a hard option to trust given his continued decreased usage. He should be viewed as a desperation RB3/flex play for Week 10.

KC RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Tennessee Titans

Clyde Edwards-Helaire got off to a strong start this season. From Week 1 through Week 4, he was RB4 (half-PPR). Now he's RB21. CEH has seen his role reduced with the emergence of rookie Isiah Pacheco. Pacheco not only drew the start in Week 7, but saw more touches and playing time. As a result, CEH played a season-low 27% of the offensive touches (his previous low was 39%). Another factor to point out is CEH has 0 receptions in his last two games (with one target). He did manage to find the end zone in Week 7, but it's clear his role is diminishing. He'll be a risky RB3 option in Week 9 against a tough Titans defense that's 5th in aFPA to RBs this season.

KC RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at San Francisco 49ers

Clyde Edwards-Helaire struggled to get anything going last week. He ran the ball nine times for just 33 yards while seeing 0 targets out of the backfield. He played his usual amount, seeing 42% of the offensive snaps. He just wasn't productive. The biggest difference in Week 6, though, was the lack of targets out of the backfield. An interesting note is that Isiah Pacheco saw two targets, the first time in a game this season the rookie has had targets. CEH could struggle again this week as he gets yet another tough matchup, this time against the 49ers. San Francisco has allowed the 2nd-fewest average fantasy points to running backs this season. CEH should be viewed as a mid-tier RB2 play in Week 7.

KC RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Buffalo Bills

Clyde Edwards-Helaire had his least productive game of the season last week, finishing with just 35 scrimmage yards and no touchdowns. He ran the ball nine times for 15 yards and caught three of his four targets for 20 yards. Meanwhile, backup Jerick McKinnon ran eight times for 53 yards and caught two of three targets for 19 yards. McKinnon's 10 touches are the most he's seen in a game this season, but the Chiefs' snap counts between the two backs mostly remained the same. We wouldn't be too worried about CEH's lack of production. His touches and snap counts were mostly the same, he just struggled to get yards and didn't have a score as the Chiefs had four red zone touchdowns to Travis Kelce. CEH should remain a solid RB2 play moving forward. This week he draws a fairly tough matchup against the Bills, but this matchup was an offensive showdown the last time these two teams met.

KC RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Clyde Edwards-Helaire is keeping his detractors at bay as he continues to produce at a high level. Last week he ran 19 times for 92 yards against a tough Bucs run defense. He also finished with two touchdowns, giving him five total scores on the season. CEH is RB4 through the first four weeks as he's proving to be a draft day steal so far. He should continue to have success this week against the Raiders, who are giving up the sixth-most average fantasy points to running backs this season. CEH should be viewed as a strong RB2 play heading into Week 5.
