Clyde Edwards-Helaire is back for Kansas City.

Per the NFL’s daily transaction wire, the Chiefs have activated Edwards-Helaire off of the non-football injury list to the 53-man roster.

Edwards-Helaire returned to practice earlier this month and had been dealing with physical effects stemming from post-traumatic stress disorder, including nausea and vomiting, the story said. With Hunt seemingly taking over the RB1 role, there could be a path for CEH to get back to an RB2 role, jumping ahead of Perine and Steele. The Chiefs seem to trust CEH, and HC Andy Reid was quoted in the story saying, "We're awful glad to have him here."

Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco is expected to land on injured reserve with the fibula injury he suffered Sunday vs. the Bengals.

Pacheco will miss a minimum of four weeks and quite possibly longer, per Schefter's sources. He is undergoing additional testing today to determine the full damage, according to the rest of the post, but the injury did not look good. For now, Steele and Perine are expected to split the RB duties with Steele likely getting early down carries and Perine the passing down back. CEH is on the NFI list, reportedly for mental health issues. He will need to miss the first four games but there hasn't been a timetable for his return. The Chiefs will likely have to make a move at the position, at least until CEH is able to come back.

As the post points out, it's makes the addition of Perine all that more important to the Chiefs backfield. Reports say CEH is dealing with a mental health issue and he'll at least miss the first four games of the season. Perine could fall right in as the RB2 because of being a change of pace option as well as a passing down option. Steele likely stays as the team's RB3.

This impacts CEH far more than it would seem at first glance. Perine is a legitimate, reliable third-down option, and should be kept in mind for fantasy managers finishing up drafts this weekend.

The Chiefs are cutting Deneric Prince, per a league source.

The Chiefs will ride with Pacheco, CEH and Steele as their top-three RBs heading into the season. Steele's play was impressive enough that the team was able to cut Prince as a result.

Steele is certainly a name to watch. Pacheco seems like the only safe bet on the roster at RB at this point. Despite the team's use of CEH in the past, someone like Steele could continue the climb up the depth chart and be fantasy relevant. We put him as the team's RB3 at this point. As part of cuts today, the team did let go of Prince.

Chiefs rookie RB Carson Steele had his most reps with the 1s and 2s today out of all the days at camp.

Chiefs are giving him a long look after his standout game Saturday, the post said. The post also added a quote from OC Matt Nagy: "What I like about him is, right now, he's doing a lot of good things and being in the right spot at the right time, and you can trust him." The Chiefs aren't necessarily deep at RB. CEH didn't practice today and hasn't proved to be an exciting option. Prince and Ingram are familiar names but if Steele has a chance to get snaps in this offense, fantasy owners should follow this situation.

Goldman also added in his post that Pacheco worked with the wide receiver coach as well, which could be an indication of more targets in 2024. We currently rank Pacheco 11th on our RB list and project him for 45 receptions this season. The Chiefs really didn't address their RB room so Pacheco leads the way over CEH and Prince.

Speaking to the media following the conclusion of the game Monday afternoon, Reid confirmed what was feared regarding running back Isiah Pacheco. The second-year man has a concussion that forced him out of action.

Monday marked Pacheco's first game since Week 13, as the former seventh-round pick missed two consecutive games with a shoulder issue, the story said. Late in the third quarter, Pacheco hauled in a short pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes on a second-and-14 play. After turning upfield, Pacheco's helmet came off and he was hit in the head by the right knee of center Creed Humphrey. Pacheco's status for Week 17 is now certainly in doubt, especially considering it's a short week.

Reid went on to say Pacheco will be, "good to go, unless there's further setbacks. But right now, everything's positive for him to go." It's good news for owners who have survived to this point of the playoffs. McKinnon's stock seems to be rising much like it did last season at this time, so he'll likely resume his RB2 role with CEH probably falling to RB3.
