Scouting report

DEN WR Cody Latimer - Week 12, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. New England
Filling in for the injured Emmanuel Sanders last Sunday in Chicago, Cody Latimer scored his first NFL touchdown. Working with backup QB Brock Osweiler, whom he is very comfortable with, the second-year pro grabbed two passes for 22 yards. It looks like Emmanuel Sanders could be a game-time decision again this week, however with the Broncos playing the late game, you’re probably better off starting a different WR.

DEN WR Cody Latimer - Week 2, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Kansas City
Jordan Norwood received the No. 3 WR playing time ahead of Cody Latimer in Week 1 against the Ravens. Latimer does not offer much fantasy value at this time.

DEN WR Cody Latimer - Week 1, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Baltimore
Even as the Broncos No. 3 WR, Cody Latimer has been a bit of a project. Starting his second season, he has not come along as quickly as the coaching staff had hoped. With Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders and Owen Daniels all set to receive looks from Peyton Manning, there just won’t be very many opportunities for Latimer. He should not be started in Week 1.

DEN WR Cody Latimer - 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
The second-year player from Indiana will be the Broncos No. 3 WR this season and will receive not only more playing time, but also more looks from Peyton Manning with the departure of Julius Thomas and Wes Welker. Cody Latimer has shown some good potential in training camp and with Demaryius Thomas absent during the offseason workouts due to his contract being worked out, Latimer was able to make huge strides by receiving repetitions with the first team. He’s got some size at 6’2” and 215 pounds.

Fantasy Downside
Playing in just eight games – a total of 37 snaps - during a disappointing rookie season, Cody totaled only two catches for 23 yards. With TEs Owen Daniels and Virgil Green expected to see a decent amount of action that could limit Latimer’s on-field time. As Baltimore’s OC last season, Gary Kubiak’s third receiver didn’t even play half the snaps. While it hasn’t been an issue in training camp, Latimer battled a sore hamstring during offseason workouts.

Bottom Line
Emmanuel Sanders will move to the slot in three receiver sets, which should give Cody one-on-one coverage to work against when he’s in the game. However, with Denver’s balanced attack, the No. 3 WR likely won’t post good enough numbers to warrant being drafted. Be sure to keep an eye on Latimer once the regular season begins, as he has the potential to be a fill-in WR during heavy bye weeks.

DEN WR Cody Latimer - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 – Cody Latimer vs. Seattle Seahawks
The rookie was inactive for last week’s game with the Chiefs. Cody Latimer has some long-term value, but at this time should not be on a fantasy roster outside of dynasty leagues.

DEN WR Cody Latimer - Week 2, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 – Cody Latimer vs. Kansas City Chiefs
In the opener against the Colts last Sunday, Cody Latimer did not see any action. Even with Wes Welker out, the rookie is going to be in a fight just to get on the field. He’s a great WR for the future, but there’s no reason for him to be in your starting lineup at this point.

DEN WR Cody Latimer - Week 1, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 – Cody Latimer vs. Indianapolis Colts
The rookie will make his regular season debut on Sunday night. Cody Latimer had a good training camp and preseason and now it’ll be time to show everyone why the Broncos selected him in the second round out of Indiana. With Wes Welker out for the first four games, Cody will see more time than was originally anticipated early in the season as the No. 4 WR. However, it’s advised you leave Latimer on your bench, even with Peyton Manning tossing the ball around to multiple receivers.
