CHI TE Cole Kmet - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Green Bay Packers

Cole Kmet has been playing nearly 100% of the snaps lately, but Jimmy Graham is clearly out-producing him from a fantasy perspective. For a while it looked like Kmet may take over as the lead tight end, but he's finished with 12 and 18 receiving yards in his past two games. Kmet can be forgotten as a fantasy asset in Week 17.

CHI TE Cole Kmet - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Jacksonville Jaguars

Cole Kmet played 100% of the offensive snaps in a game for the first time last week, although it only amounted to a 2-12 stat line. Jimmy Graham finished 2-25 on 53% of the snaps. Kmet has been more involved lately, but Graham hasn't fully gone away. At this point, Kmet and Graham are making each other irrelevant as they each barely stay relevant. Also, the Bears face a surprisingly tough tight end defense against the Jaguars this week. Jacksonville's defense has been awful, but the Jags have given up the eighth-fewest receptions to tight ends this season. Kmet is just outside of TE1 territory for Week 16.

CHI TE Cole Kmet - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Minnesota Vikings

Cole Kmet out-snapped Jimmy Graham again last week, and was second on the team in targets (7), but only finished 4-41 as Graham finished 4-23-1. The Bears are definitely getting the rookie more involved, but Graham's presence unfortunately limits Kmet's full ceiling. While his snap count and production increases are encouraging, at the end of the day this is a player with 17 receptions on the season. Kmet would be a risky play at TE at this point in the fantasy season.

CHI TE Cole Kmet - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Houston Texans

Seemingly out of nowhere, the Bears have shifted to using rookie Cole Kmet over veteran Jimmy Graham. Kmet has played more snaps than Graham over the past three weeks, and was productive in Week 13 finishing 5-37-1 on seven targets. Kmet had just eight total receptions heading into last week, so he's not a fully reliable fantasy option yet. But he's trending that way. This week should give us a clearer picture. As of now, he's not much more than a TE2 play.
