Scouting report

by Jeff Hicks

DAL RB Corey Clement - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at New York Giants

The former Eagle filled the Tony Pollard role admirably in Week 14 and like Pollard, ran better than Ezekiel Elliott. Clement’s 14 total touches were four more than he had in all other games and he could be another RB3/flex option as injuries and COVID-19 wreck teams across the NFL.

PHI RB Corey Clement - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Dallas
Corey Clement is back in the running back rotation with Miles Sanders injured. He played in 22% of the snaps with a lot of those on 3rd down. That number might go up slightly higher but the Eagles are very happy with Boston Scott in Sanders' role.

The Cowboys are bad against the run so Clement has some value, but because he only had three touches last week, his fantasy numbers will not have enough impact to warrant even a roster spot at this point. The only thing that changes that at this point is an injury to Scott.

PHI RB Corey Clement - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. New York Giants
Corey Clement moves into the backup role with Miles Sanders out with an injury. He has only five carries on the season with zero receptions which is where he usually garners some value.

Clement will face the Giants' defense which is 20th in aFPA to running backs. We expect him to get 8-10 touches against New York and has even more value in PPR leagues, but not enough to start him for Week 7. He might be worth a pick up for bench depth as he should have this role for two to three weeks.

PHI RB Corey Clement - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Dallas Cowboys

The Eagles head to Dallas for a pivotal division match-up. Philadelphia has an implied team total of just 20.25 points, in the bottom third for Week 14 against a strong Cowboys defense. Dallas ranks top five in aFPA to RBs. With 20 and 22 rushes in his last two games, Josh Adams is the only viable fantasy starter in the Eagles backfield. His lack of passing game production though pushes him down to FLEX territory, however. Corey Clement and Darren Sproles combined for 12 touches last week, rendering neither of them as starting options in Week 14.

PHI RB Corey Clement - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Washington Redskins

The Philadelphia - Washington game has a low over/under of just 45 points. The Eagles are home favorites against a backup quarterback, which could lead to more rushing volume than usual this week. Washington is top 10 in aFPA to RBs, but volume should keep Adams among the RB2s this week after assuming bell cow status with 22 touches last week. Corey Clement was the only other Eagles RB to touch the ball with seven touches, which means Adams is the only Philly back at this point worth starting.

PHI RB Corey Clement - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. New York Giants

The Eagles offense was embarrassed in the Superdome last week, but there are indications of a bounce back this week. Philadelphia has an above average implied team total of 26 points. And it looks like Josh Adams may have ascended to the top of the depth chart. Despite extremely negative game script in New Orleans, he had 10 touches, including six targets, compared to just four touches for Corey Clement and one touch for Wendell Smallwood. Clement and Smallwood are not starting considerations at this point.

PHI RB Corey Clement - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at New Orleans Saints

The Eagles are riding the struggle bus lately, but a stop at Superdome station is always a good place to cure what ails in fantasy. A suspected shootout Sunday has the Eagles with an implied team total of more than 23 points, despite being eight-point underdogs. However, the three-man RBBC of Josh Adams, Wendell Smallwood and Corey Clement leaves us not wanting to start any of them. At this point, you're just grasping at straws trying to figure out if one will score a touchdown on any given week, and if so, which one it will be. Good luck, especially against a Saints defense that ranks top five in aFPA to RBs.
