Dallas Goedert is, in the opinion of many prominent film watchers, one of the top five most talented tight ends in the entire NFL. Sadly, he's never quite put this talent together for a whole season and emerged as a truly dominant performer. 2023 was a prime example of this. Goedert caught a career-high 59 passes and racked up 592 yards, his fifth-straight season with at least 500 yards. But he scored just three touchdowns, and has seen his yards per receptions drop in each of his last two seasons. He finished 2023 as the TE13 in half-PPR formats.
There is optimism that Goedert could be ready for his true breakout with the arrival of Kellen Moore in Philadelphia. Moore's offenses have, in the past, made good use of their tight ends, with the likes of Dalton Schultz and Gerald Everett seeing plenty of opportunities. Goedert will have to share targets with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, as well as see targets plucked out of the air by Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley seeking out rushing opportunities, but if Goedert can play a full season (which he has not since his rookie campaign) then he could finish a lot higher than our low-end TE1 projections currently have him in store for.
