Scouting report

PHI TE Dallas Goedert - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Atlanta
Dallas Goedert has slid into the No. 1 tight end spot for Philadelphia but this isn't really surprising. The Eagles have leaned heavily on their tight ends and Goedert already was a popular fantasy pick the last two seasons as the backup. He won't be in the first tier of fantasy tight ends and Zach Ertz is still on the roster, but his stock has risen.

It's a great matchup this week against the Falcons who were ranked 29th in aFPA to tight ends in 2020. The only question here is will the new offense still use the tight ends as the main targets in the passing. We think they will. Start Goedert as a TE1 for Week 1.

PHI TE Dallas Goedert - 2021 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Despite not being the primary tight end for Philadelphia, Dallas Goedert has put up solid tight end numbers during his first three seasons with 2019 being his best overall. Over the past two seasons, he has been considered a top 10 tight end at times and entering 2021, he has surpassed veteran teammate Zach Ertz as the top-ranked tight end on the team. He caught 104 passes over the past two years and scored 8 touchdowns.

Fantasy Downside
It's unclear if the tight ends will have the same role under new head coach Nick Sirianni like they did with the previous coaching staff. Goedert also had injury issues in 2020 missing five games but is considered healthy entering 2021. There is also the question of second-year QB Jalen Hurts and how much his passing game will progress from his rookie season. Veteran tight end Zach Ertz is still on the roster so he will also continue to get targets.

Bottom Line
Goedert is definitely a Top-10 fantasy tight end for the 2021 season. He has been going in the sixth or seventh round which is in line where his value is. Even with the Eagles putting in a new offense around Hurts, Goedert will be one of the highest targetted players on Philadelphia. Expectations are he will catch 65 passes for 812 yards.

PHI TE Dallas Goedert - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Washington
Dallas Goedert has still been getting the most playing time of any Philadelphia receiver or tight end, even with Zach Ertz back in the lineup. However, his numbers haven't been great . He only averaged four catches per game in December with zero touchdowns.

Goedert will face a very hot Washington defense who is ranked 7th in aFPA to tight ends. The Eagles will not make the postseason, but should play to win at home on national TV against a division opponent.

Keep Goedert on the bench for Week 17. The numbers haven't been there and he only ranks a TE2 for the season finale.

PHI TE Dallas Goedert - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Dallas
Dallas Goedert's overall numbers haven't been strong with Jalen Hurts at quarterback, but he is still seeing seven targets a game over those two starts. He has now gone three straight games without a touchdown and that was one of his strengths in the red zone. Zach Ertz has been worked back into the lineup after his injury and that has affected Goedert slightly.

Goedert will face the Cowboys who rank fifth in aFPA to tight ends. Dallas has actually had problems with their defense at times, but tight ends haven't been as much as an issue. In the first meeting earlier this season, he was held to one reception for 19 yards.

Start Goedert as a low-end TE1. He still is the primary target in the Eagles passing game and the Eagles did throw for over 300 yards last week with Hurts.

PHI TE Dallas Goedert - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Arizona
Dallas Goedert had four catches for 43 yards last Sunday. He remains the top option at tight end for the Eagles because Zach Ertz is still fighting back from injury. The negative is that new starting quarterback Jalen Hurts will probably throw less and that will affect Goedert's fantasy numbers.

The Eagles face the Cardinals who are ranked 11th in aFPA to tight ends. We expect Goedert to remain a big part of the Eagles passing game despite Hurts at quarterback, mainly because that's what head coach Doug Pederson likes to do.

Start Goedert Week 15 as a low-end TE1 and expect similar numbers to last week although we could see more targets for him.

PHI TE Dallas Goedert - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. New Orleans
Zach Ertz did return to the lineup and played 44% of the snaps while Dallas Goedert played 84% of the offensive snaps. Ertz is still not 100% so Goedert remains the main target in the passing game. Last week, he had five receptions for 66 yards. Now, it will be Jalen Hurts behind center for the Eagles so we don't know at this point if that will help or hurt the tight ends' production.

Goedert will face the Saints who are ranked 1st in aFPA to tight ends. The New Orleans defense is very good, but we expect Goedert to still have an impact. Start Goedert as a low-end TE1 against the Saints for Week 14. We expect Hurts to still use his tight ends more than his receivers based on coach Doug Pederson's history.

PHI TE Dallas Goedert - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Green Bay
Dallas Goedert has slowly been getting back to form and with his teammate Zach Ertz out, Goedert is putting up big numbers. Last week he was targetted 10 times which produced 7 catches for 75 yards and a touchdown. He now has touchdowns in back-to-back games.

Carson Wentz has struggled but the tight ends remain his favorite targets. Goedert will face the Packers who are 5th in aFPA to tight ends. Even with the unfavorable matchup, we love Goedert to have a big game on Sunday.

Start Goedert even of Ertz returns. We rank him as a top 5 fantasy tight end in all leagues and formats.
