NYG QB Daniel Jones - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Daniel Jones had 187 yards, two touchdowns, an interception, and a hilarious 80-yard rush on his way to 92 yards on the ground that ended in a turf-trip emblematic of the Giants’ season. Jones hasn’t exceeded 300 yards passing yet this year, and while he’s averaging 42.3 yards rushing per game, that’s not enough to offset his 5/7 TD/Int ratio. That ratio is 3/2 over the past two games, so maybe things can turn, but against a tough Buccaneers defense, this is not the week to put him back in your lineup. He’s droppable in 1QB redraft leagues.

NYG QB Daniel Jones - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Philadelphia Eagles

Daniel Jones continued to struggle against Washington last week, throwing for just 112 yards, a touchdown and a pick. He got the win, and added 74 yards on the ground, including a tricky 49-yard scamper off an effective play-fake, but it’s hard to expect that production on the ground every week. Jones continues to have long-term upside if the offense can ever patch up its holes and find some success, but in most leagues, Jones is a QB2 streamer at best. He should stay on waivers, regardless of matchup, until we see something different from him and the Giants offense.

NYG QB Daniel Jones - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Washington Football Team

Daniel Jones threw for 222 yards in a loss against the Cowboys last week. It was a fantastic matchup and he failed to put up viable fantasy numbers, even in 2QB formats. He has a nice matchup against the Washington Football Team this week, who just allowed big numbers to Jared Goff and the Rams, but it’s hard to trust him. At best, he’s a bye week or injury filler in 2QB leagues until further notice. He’s droppable in 1QB leagues.

NYG QB Daniel Jones - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Dallas Cowboys

Daniel Jones has been bad this year, along with the rest of the Giants offense. He had just 190 yards and a pick against the Rams last week, and is averaging just 222 yards per game and hasn’t thrown a touchdown since Week 1. He does have 137 yards rushing so far this year, but that’s small consolation given the lack of production elsewhere.

This week, Jones faces a Cowboys defense that ranks 22nd in aFPA to opposing quarterbacks, so there’s some upside for him to get the offense going. Jones has some upside, assuming the Cowboys are going to continue to be an offensive juggernaut and a defensive sieve. We have him ranked as a solid QB2 and he has some streaming potential in deep leagues or as a bye week filler. Jones is risky, but if he can’t produce this week, he can probably be dropped.

NYG QB Daniel Jones - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Los Angeles Rams

Daniel Jones had 179 yards and an interception last week as the Giants fell to 0-3 after a blowout loss to the Nick Mullens-led 49ers. Jones did add 49 yards rushing, something he’s capable of doing, but that upside doesn’t overshadow the fact that he’s thrown just two touchdowns to four interceptions this season and is averaging 233 passing yards per game. The Rams rank in the upper half of the league against the pass, despite facing the Cowboys and the Bills – two teams with highly prolific 2020 quarterbacks. Sit Jones until the Giants look like something resembling an NFL offense.

NYG QB Daniel Jones - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. San Francisco 49ers

Daniel Jones had a tough outing last week against the Bears, throwing for 241 yards and an interception. The Giants put up just 13 points and remain winless in this young 2020 season. Jones has rushed for at least 20 yards in each of his first two games, giving him some upside if he can get a little more production through the air, but so far, he’s been largely a disappointment. Next up is the 49ers, who held Kyler Murray to 230 yards, a touchdown and a pick in Week 1, and Sam Darnold to 179 yards and a touchdown on Sunday. Don’t expect much out of Jones in a tough matchup. He should be considered a low-end QB2 option at best this week.

NYG QB Daniel Jones - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Chicago Bears

Daniel Jones had an uneven start to the season against the Steelers in Week 1, with 279 yards, a pair of touchdowns and a pair of interceptions as well. Jones did this against a legitimately good defense however, so it’s hard to gleam too much from his turnovers. Jones should continue to improve in his second season and will likely do better in easier matchups.

Last week, the Bears gave up 297 yards and a touchdown to Matthew Stafford in a winning effort – although that could’ve been dramatically changed had rookie running back D’Andre Swift not dropped a touchdown pass in the closing minutes.
Expect the Bears to get after Jones and for the Giants to re-establish the run game, making Jones a risky start. We have him outside even our QB2 rankings this week.
