NYG WR Darius Slayton - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Miami Dolphins

Darius Slayton had another monster outing last week against the Eagles, putting up 154 yards and a pair of touchdowns on five receptions. He also led the team with eight targets on the day, and he’s averaging nearly 10 targets over his past four games. Slayton is still risky to trust week-to-week in an inconsistent offense as a rookie vying with a couple of veterans for targets in Golden Tate and Sterling Shepard, but the potential he’s shown this season has been significant.

This week might be a good one to gamble on the rookie. The Dolphins are second to last in aFPA to opposing wide receivers this year. Also, the Giants have struggled defensively as well, so this game could wind up being a higher scoring one than expected considering two struggling offenses playing against eachother. We have Slayton ranked as a WR3 option this week, and he certainly has significant upside.

NYG WR Darius Slayton - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Philadelphia Eagles

With all the injuries in the Giants’ receiving corps, Darius Slayton now leads the team with 505 yards and five touchdowns. He was held to just 44 yards against the Packers last week, but he led the team with nine targets and is emerging as a legitimate weapon for quarterback Daniel Jones. He likely has a strong future with the team.

This week, Slayton has some WR3 upside against an Eagles defense that ranks 22nd in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Even if Golden Tate returns from a head injury – he’s questionable – Slayton should still see a nice dose of targets and provide big-play upside in deep leagues. In a good matchup, if you’re desperate, Slayton could be worth a gamble at the back end of your lineup.

NYG WR Darius Slayton - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Green Bay Packers

Darius Slayton only put up 67 yards, but in a reasonably tough matchup with Sterling Shepard back in the lineup, it was encouraging to see him targeted seven times. He caught four balls and averaged 16.8 yards per catch as he remains a unique feature in the Giants offense. Slayton is a downfield, outside receiver on a team full of guys who profile in the slot, which has helped him carve a role.

This week, Slayton has some sneaky upside against the Packers. Green Bay ranks 17th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers, and with Golden Tate’s status in question and Evan Engram still out, he could benefit from additional targets. If Tate is out, Slayton should be considered a sneaky WR3 option in deep leagues. If Tate plays, Slayton is a bit riskier, but still has some boom-bust potential in very deep formats.

NYG WR Darius Slayton - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Chicago Bears

Darius Slayton had a fantastic game against the Jets before the bye last week, catching 10 passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns. While he’s been very up-and-down throughout the year, Slayton has scored twice in a game in two of his last three outings. He remains the best deep threat the team has on the outside and has carved a role for himself.

Slayton has a tough matchup this week against the Bears, so fantasy owners should be cautious in using him. Chicago is tied for fifth in aFPA to opposing wide receivers and if Sterling Shepard comes back – which sounds like a possibility – Slayton may see fewer snaps. If Shepard is out again, Slayton could be considered a risky WR3 option in deep leagues, but if Shepard starts, he should be benched in a tough matchup until we see how much Shepard’s presence affects him.

NYG WR Darius Slayton - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at New York Jets

Darius Slayton followed up a two-touchdown performance in Week 8 with a single catch for six yards on Monday night against the Cowboys. Slayton remains an intriguing long-term option as his deep skill set separates him from Golden Tate and Sterling Shepard, stylistically. Slayton profiles as an outside threat and should continue to be given opportunities to grow in the offense. He also has some upside this week with Shepard back in concussion protocol for the foreseeable future against a Jets team that ranks 26th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers and has glaring holes in the secondary. That being said, until he produces consistently, fantasy owners should view him as a risky boom-bust option in most leagues, or a risky WR3 option in deeper formats.

NYG WR Darius Slayton - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Dallas Cowboys

Darius Slayton only caught two of the five passes thrown his way last week against the Lions, but both of them were touchdown receptions as the Giants made a game of it after falling behind by 14 in the first quarter. Slayton seems to be all-or-nothing, but his snap count suggests upside in good matchups. He’s been on the field for at least 84% of the team’s offensive snaps in each of the past three games with Sterling Shepard out and has shown the ability to stretch the field.

This week, Slayton faces a Cowboys defense that has been very up-and-down this year, but ranks 13th overall in aFPA to opposing wide receivers. Slayton is a little boom-or-bust, but he stands a reasonable chance of finding the end zone again, so fantasy owners in desperation mode could take a flyer on him as a low-end WR3. Outside of that, however, he’s probably best viewed as a long-term stash option.

NYG WR Darius Slayton - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Detroit Lions

Darius Slayton was targeted only twice last week against the Cardinals, catching both passes for 28 yards. The Lions have been slightly below average against wide receivers this season and just gave up 142 yards to Stefon Diggs, but with Saquon Barkley and Evan Engram in the lineup and Golden Tate getting his share of targets, Slayton’s looks are going to be inconsistent at best. Sit him.
