Panthers beat writer Scott Fowler thinks if RB Fozzy Whittaker ever looks healthy again -- and maybe it happens Sunday -- he could actually do the Panthers' running game a lot of good.

Whittaker was one of the most impressive parts of August for Carolina. He runs hard enough that with a hole or two he could make something happen for a ground game that has been practically non-existent.

Fantasy Impact: 

The Panthers are hurting at running back and Darrin Reaves looks like he's going to start this week. Reaves isn't all that safe of a fantasy play outside of desperation and Whittaker isn't much safer. In the same blog, beat writer Fowler believes there could be a lot of throwing in this contest, especially the Panthers.

Just because Panthers undrafted rookie Darrin Reaves has been named the starter -- by default, I might add -- doesn't mean he will be productive. He averaged only 2.2 yards on 12 carries last week. Injuries to the backfield aside, the Panthers rank 29th in the league in rushing offense primarily because the line has underperformed.

Fantasy Impact: 

Reaves isn't a bad dart throw for a desperate owner at the flex/RB3 spot, but he's unlikely to have a great game given the team's struggles to run the ball.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle, out) has been ruled out for Week 5. It will be some combination of Fozzy Whittaker, Darrin Reaves and Chris Ogbonnaya, with Reaves likely in the lead role.

Panthers RB Fozzy Whittaker (thigh, probable) took full practice reps on Friday after being limited earlier in the week and is probable for Week 5. Whittaker will form an ugly RBBC with Darrin Reaves and Chris Ogbonnaya.
