Week 9 – Darrin Reaves vs. New Orleans

Darrin Reaves had only one carry for one yard last week against the Seahawks, and with Jonathan Stewart healthy and getting the bulk of the touches, there’s no reason to expect Reaves to gain any kind of legitimate fantasy value. Fantasy owners should leave him on waivers.

Update:
Reaves was placed on waivers this week and is seemingly no longer a Carolina Panther.

Week 8 – Darrin Reaves vs. Seattle
Darrin Reaves didn’t get any carries last week against the Packers, and he’s contending with Chris Ogbonnaya and a seemingly healthy (for now) Jonathan Stewart, making his upside minimal. With Stewart in the lineup, Reaves has zero fantasy value, and even without Stewart around, Reaves hasn’t shown the capability to emerge into a starting fantasy back anyway. Leave him on waivers.

CAR RB Darrin Reaves - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 – Darrin Reaves vs. Green Bay
Darrin Reaves took a backseat to Fozzy Whitaker last week against the Bengals, but Fozzy got hurt and Reaves ended up with eight carries and a reception for 19 total yards from scrimmage. He’ll likely be behind Jonathan Stewart this week, making him a risky fantasy option. If Stewart winds up being a late scratch again, Reaves has some upside against a very vulnerable Green Bay run defense that is allowing over 150 yards per game on the ground to opposing offenses. If Stewart is a go, don’t start Reaves. If Stewart is out, then Reaves becomes a risky, borderline flex play with upside.

CAR RB Darrin Reaves - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 – Darrin Reaves vs. Cincinnati

Darrin Reaves had 11 carries last week against the Bears and he added a nice 16 yard reception to end up with 51 total yards from scrimmage. However, he lost short yardage touches to Chris Ogbonnaya last week, which isn’t a good sign for Reaves’ potential.

This week, he’ll face a Bengals defense that was gashed by the Patriots on Sunday night, but has been pretty stout the rest of the year. Reaves is also a little hobbled right now and there is a good chance that Jonathan Stewart returns to action this week. With so much uncertainty, Reaves is probably better left out of your lineup.

Week 5 – Darrin Reaves vs. Chicago
Darrin Reaves was in line to get a lot of touches this week, but with Fozzy Whitaker seemingly healthy and Chris Ogbonnaya brought in, the Panthers’ confidence in Reaves doesn’t look to be too high. While an intriguing prospect, fantasy owners should have a similar lack of confidence. Reaves faces a below average Bears run defense but he may or may not get enough carries to be relevant. It’s been a long time since the Carolina running game has been productive, and it seems doubtful that that will change this week.

CAR RB Darrin Reaves - Week 4, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 – Darrin Reaves vs. Baltimore

Darrin Reaves was added to the roster late last week in light of the injuries that have decimated the Carolina backfield. He’ll be contending with Fozzy Whitaker for carries behind DeAngelo Williams, who is also coming off an injury.

Reaves isn’t worth starting, but he could get some work if Williams is still banged up and Whitaker still has some nagging issues. Keep an eye on the injury report, but with a bad matchup against the Ravens top ten run defense, it’s hard to imagine Reaves doing well, even if he gets carries.
