Scouting report

TEN TE Delanie Walker - 2017 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Delanie Walker had his least productive season in three years and still produced a solid line of 65-800-7. That wasn't the 94-catch season he provided in 2015, but it wasn't bad. He's remains a top target in the Tennessee offense.

Fantasy Downside

At 32, Walker could start slowing down. He also saw his targets fall from 133 in 2015 to 102 last season, his fewest since getting 86 his first season in Tennessee in 2013. The Titans also have added some other weapons who could contribute to that downward trend in targets.

2017 Bottom Line

Walker remains a top receiving option at the tight end position until further notice, though he shouldn't go as high this season as he did last year when he was coming off that 94-catch campaign that also saw him top 1,000 yards. He should remain a top-10 option at the tight end position in 2017. Beyond that, who knows? But take advantage of him while you can. He's not a bad fallback option if you miss out on the Gronkowskis, Kelces, and Olsens of the world.

TEN TE Delanie Walker - Week 17, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Houston
Walker posted a 3-23-1 line last week as Tennessee's offense never really got going. He remains one of the best tight ends in football but faces a tough matchup this week against a Houston defense that limited him to two catches for 34 yards the first time they met this season. Walker's a guy you almost have to start. But if you have somebody with a better matchup, you might want to avoid him in what promises to be a low-scoring affair.

TEN TE Delanie Walker - Week 16, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Jacksonville
Walker had a team-high six receptions last week and added 55 yards receiving. His workload alone makes him a top TE prospect each week. Jacksonville's stingy to opposing tight ends, but Walker isn't just any tight end. He had four receptions for 75 yards the first time around against the Jaguars and should be good enough to use as a TE1 this week, as well.

TEN TE Delanie Walker - Week 15, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Kansas City
Walker managed just two catches for 30 yards last week, but that was nearly half of Tennessee's passing output. Kansas City allows just over 40 yards receiving to tight ends this season. They've been much easier to throw on to receivers. But Walker's one of the best tight ends going. He'll be somewhat limited but not enough to keep on your bench.

TEN TE Delanie Walker - Week 14, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Denver
Walker went into the bye week with five touchdown catches in his past eight games and remains one of the top tight ends in the league. But the Broncos have given up just two TE touchdown catches all season and allow 52 yards per game to the position. Again, Walker is better than most, so he could surpass that yardage total, but getting into the end zone will be a chore. He's not the top start he usually is, but he'll still outperform all but a handful of tight ends.

TEN TE Delanie Walker - Week 12, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Chicago
Walker was limited to 36 yards last week on four catches but has at least four catches in six of his last seven games. He's a threat for a big game every week, one of the few this season at the tight end position. Chicago has been tough overall against the position but did allow a line of 9-101-1 two weeks ago to Tampa Bay's tight ends. Walker is more talented than any TE on Tampa Bay's roster. He's a must start in all formats.

TEN TE Delanie Walker - Week 11, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Indianapolis
Walker had a season-best line of 9-124-1 last week and is coming on strong as Marcus Mariota is quickly becoming a very dangerous QB. Walker's previous best game this season came a few weeks ago against Indianapolis with 7-84-1 as the Colts have been one of the worst TE defenses in the league. With Gronk sitting out this week, Walker just might be the No. 1 play in fantasy football this week.
